The Right to Bear Arms

This right, as first guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and later reaffirmed by the Ohio Constitution, is a meaningful right for many Ohioans. From hunting to home defense,  the right to bear arms is taken seriously by many in our district, and viewed as almost a natural right. Therefore, proposed legislation needs to respect this view, while also incorporating sensible approaches toward creating a more secure environment.

  • We must ensure the gun laws we have now are enforced and that gun safety education is widely encouraged and supported, such as through conceal carry classes.
  • Better communication between local, state, and even federal agencies will help prevent violent offenders from obtaining firearms.
  • Reasonable regulations curbing the modification of any weapon towards military-grade status will be given serious consideration.
